Teaching and support staff are crucial to a successful institution, and the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning. With Ofsted and enhanced legal requirements, it is crucial that your HR function is both supportive and compliant.

As a former HR Director and Safeguarding Lead for a Multi-Academy Trust, I have extensive experience of ensuring an outstanding HR function in the educational environment. Services include:

  • Advice and guidance on employment law and support in dealing with all people management issues.

  • Full audit of documentation and personnel records, including refining contracts of employment and the staff handbook/Code of Conduct.

  • HR project management.

  • Good employee relations practice.

  • Employment law advice service and advice in relation to national terms and conditions of employment.

  • Independent investigations - in relation to managing allegations against staff or disciplinary/grievance/Whistle Blowing procedures. 

  • Developing or improving policies, procedures and HR administration.

  • Recruitment support, from devising the application form, example questions and selection tasks, including Headteacher/Principal recruitment.

  • Coaching and training for managers on a range of HR issues.

  • Restructure and redundancy programmes.

  • Specialist advice relating to the education sector and the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021.

These services are available on a daily or ongoing basis, and may be particularly useful when a non HR specialist carries out the HR function within your school. In addition, these services may support your internal HR teams with more complex problems.
